Glenda Faye Mathis

December 20, 1929 ~ February 2, 2019 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Tribute

Long time Oklahoma City resident, Glenda ‘Faye’ Mathis, 89, passed away on February 2, 2019, just a little over a year after her beloved husband of 71 years. She was born on Dec 20, 1929 and raised in Oklahoma City, OK by her mother and father, Lydia and Fitzhugh Lancaster. She spent the majority of her life focusing on her roles as wife, mom, homemaker and then grandma, great grandma and great-great grandma! But, in her younger/ middle aged years she did put time in at Western Electric and National Steele Company.

Faye and Leroy kept a lake house at Eufaula from the time their two daughters were teens until their grandchildren were teens, almost 30 years. They spent most of their weekends there, and that’s where many of their fondest memories came from.
Faye loved to work in her garden. She kept a beautiful home inside and out. She wasn’t a fan of change and happiest with her family, in her home of nearly 50 years. No matter what the holiday the family gathered at her house for a huge home cooked meal. She was spunky and stern, but her laughter could fill a room and her heart overflowed with love for her family.  She adored her husband and he worshiped and waited on her every day they were on this earth together. She was a prayer warrior and avid reader of the Word.

Faye will be greatly missed by her sister, Beverly Huston (Fred): two daughters, Linda Rayburn (Ralph) and Pam Hoegger (Rick): three grandchildren, Greg Rayburn (Dana), Jeremy Hoegger (Bridgett) and Hillary Henley (Jeremy): eight great grandchildren, Alexis Rayburn, Raynee Rayburn, Taylor Evans, McKenzie Hoegger, Kennedy Hoegger, Judah Henley, Silas Henley and Lydia Henley: and two great-great grandchildren Avery and Aveah Baxter. The family wishes to acknowledge the special attention Faye received from her kind and loyal caregiver, Carli Simmons, as well as help from her two great grand-daughters McKenzie and Kennedy, and friend of the family, Darah Henley, and of course the much-appreciated care and support from Sooner Hospice. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org)

A viewing will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home Tuesday, February 5th from 1-8. Services to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00am in the Chapel at Resthaven.
