Gerald “Jerry” Lee Ice, Sr. passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2019, at the age of 80. He was born in Fletcher, Oklahoma, on March 26, 1939, to Rene and Irene Ice.
Jerry grew up on a farm in Fletcher, OK, attending school there until they moved when he was in the 9th grade. He finished schooling in Moore Schools. After graduation, Jerry attended OU, TCJC, and Francis Tuttle.
In 1962, Jerry joined the Air Force, and proudly served until 1966. While in the Air Force, he met the love of his life, Glenda Sue Fitzpatrick, and they were wed on March 15, 1964. Of this union came three children, Glenda, Gerald Jr., and Deborah.
During his working life, Jerry trained on mechanical and business machines such as calculators and typewriters. He was a business owner for about 20 years and had contracts with schools and news stations to work on their typewriters. He and his family resided in Texas before they moved back to OKC in 1995.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Rene and Irene Ice; brothers, Charles Ice, John Ice, and Jimmy Ice; his wife, Glenda Sue (Fitzpatrick) Ice; and granddaughter, Deborah “Suzzane” Ice.
Survivors include his three children, Glenda Lea Cates and husband David, Gerald Lee Ice, Jr., and Deborah Kaye Ice; a sister, Suzzane Hudson; grandchildren, David Torrence and wife Alyssa and Charles “Charlie” Cates; and great-grandchildren, Jason and Lily Torrence. He will be loved and missed by a numerous host of family and friends.
