Gerald Farris, born March 11, 1940 to Obie Lee and Maudie (Anderson) Farris passed over Jordan on January 14, 2022. He joins his parents, grandparents, wife Myong Suk (Sukee), his brother Billy and two sons David Lee and Alvin Jay in Heaven’s glory.

Gerald served in the United States Army for 22 years with the Corps of Engineers. He received a Bronze Star during one of his two tours in Vietnam. After his retirement from the military, he worked for the State of Florida as a Prison Guard and a Security Guard until his full retirement.

Gerald was a self-taught fine arts painter specializing in landscapes, seascapes and still life. His work is admired by many. He loved to fish when he wasn’t painting. He was even brave enough to try kayak fishing with his son Alvin.

Gerald is survived by two children, Dianne Dunbar of Oklahoma City OK and Robert Farris of Birmingham AL; three brothers Harlon (Carolyn), Don (Sonja) and Hershel (Jennifer); nine grandchildren, Amanda, David Jr., Kristina, Elizabeth, Ashley, Colleen, Danielle, Alison, Micayla, 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Sunday, February 6, 2022 in the fellowship hall at Hartford Baptist Church, 105 E. Burch St., Hartford, Alabama 36344. Interment for Gerald and his loving wife, Moung Suk (Sukee), will take place at 2:00pm, Monday, February 7, 2022 at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32218.
