George H. Evans

On June 15th, our family Patriarch, George Henry Evans, completed his race at age 87. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his beloved and cherished wife of 65 years, Ruth, three children; Jim, Jeff and wife Debra, and Jaye, grandchildren; Chris, Michael, Jordan, Taylor, Daniel and Jacob, 3 great grandchildren; Olivia, Liam and Knox, along with a multitude of other family and friends. He graduated from Norman High School where he lettered in many sports and continued competing or coaching softball, basketball, golf or volleyball. He was an avid bird hunter, who loved his dogs. He enjoyed reading and critiquing all cooks. George rose from humble circumstances to build a successful insurance agency that survives him as the longest standing business in Moore. He was proud of his community and served on the Moore City Council and multiple boards in Moore. He loved his church and was a dedicated member, deacon, and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church, Moore. His true passion was helping and loving people. Through his business, community and church he made countless friends. He was an all-weather friend, a rock of a husband, a father who could always be counted on, and a grandfather beloved by his grandchildren. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 20 at 2:00pm, First Baptist Church, Moore, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Moore Work Activity Center.
