Frances R Reid

December 20, 1933 ~ May 26, 2022 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Tribute

Frances Ruth Reid, age 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 26, 2022. She died peacefully at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City with family beside her.

She was born on December 20, 1933, in Lorenzo, Texas to James Wilson Owen and Daisy Louise Owen. She was a 1952 graduate of New Boston High School in New Boston, Texas, where she played on the tennis team and was a majorette in the band.

On March 11, 1955, she married the love of her life, David Edward Reid, to whom she was married nearly 63 years. In 1957, they moved to Oklahoma City, where they raised their two sons and worshipped and served as faithful members of Putnam City Baptist Church for over 60 years.

She embraced her role as a mother and grandmother, taking special delight in her six grandchildren, by whom she was known as "Mema." She and David loved to be involved in their lives, hardly missing a little league game and always being ready to help the parents however they could. Later in life, she had the particular joy of being "Mema" to 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Reid; eldest son, David A. Reid; parents, James and
Daisy Owen; five brothers: James, Dwight, Joe, Bobby, and Kenneth Owen; and a daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Reid.

She is survived by her son, Dale Reid; a brother, Elliott Owen, and sister, Patricia Minter; six grandchildren: Alania, Bethany (James), Trent (Ashley), Lance (Kayla), Austin (Kori), and Derek (Katia); and 14 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. (CT) on Thursday, June 2, at Putnam City Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, OK (11401 N. Rockwell Avenue, south entrance). Flowers may be sent to the church. Donations in memory of Frances can be made to the church
