Tribute

Dr. Forrest H. Stockton, DVM fell asleep in the Lord in Oklahoma City, OK on Father’s Day, June 16, 2019.{date} at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jacquelynn Sue Stockton and his son, Michael Wayne Stockton. Additionally, he was preceded his parents, Orice and Ruth Stockton and by his sister Betty. His nephew, Major Christopher Psillas, USMC, Retired, and niece, Katherine Gampert, survive him.

Forrest was born on October 22, 1926 in Oklahoma City to Orice and Ruth Stockton. He graduated from Classen High School in 1944 and subsequently enlisted in the United States Navy. He was Honorably Discharged from the United States Navy in 1946 following service in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Forrest proudly served as a Coxswain on the USS LST-869.

Following the war, Forrest began college at the Oklahoma Agriculture and Mechanical College. Since Oklahoma did not have a Veterinary School at the time, Forrest later attended the University of Kansas. In 1953, Forest received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine; beginning a career that would span more than half a century. Following graduation, he accepted a commission the United States Army Reserve Veterinary Corps. During his service, held the rank of Captain. In 1954, he opened the Capitol Hill Animal Hospital at 2716 SW 29th Street, Oklahoma City, OK -- which he later renamed and operated as Baja Metro Animal Hospital. He also opened and successfully operated two additional Animal Clinics: the Shields Animal Clinic in Moore Oklahoma (1965) and the South By-Pass Veterinary Clinic (1977). Forrest was a Past-President of the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association. At the time of his retirement at age 85, he was the oldest practicing veterinarian in the state of Oklahoma.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, June 22, 2019, at 10am, in The Chapel at Resthaven with a small reception to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Forrest's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Last Frontier Council and/or Boy Scouts of America.

The family would like to thank Kim Guerrero, his longtime friend, assistant and caregiver for her compassionate dedication to him over many years.
