Angels came on Sunday February 11, 2024, to carry Florence Emily Hacker, Rose, Rogers home.  Florence was born in Minco, Oklahoma to Lee and Lucy Mitchum Hacker, on June 3, 1935. She graduated as valedictorian of Minco High School in 1953, and shortly after moved to Oklahoma City to begin a working career at Bell Telephone company.  She married Merlin Dean Rose on December 24, 1953, and moved to Ft. Riley, Kansas, and then to Ft. Carson, Colorado.  Florence is survived by her sons, Jerry Dean Rose (and wife Barbara) of Grove, Oklahoma, and Terry Lee Rose (and wife Ginna) of Oklahoma City, and one sister, Joellyn Collins of Minco, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews. Florence had three amazing grandchildren, Chad Mitchell Rose, Amanda Leann Rose Watson, and David Lee Rose. She has five  great grandchildren, Caleb Lee, Eloise, Adelyn, Finnegan, and Evelyn. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, William, Bobby Lee, and Don Hacker, one grandchild, and two great grandchildren.
Florence began her second career working in Credit Unions. Presbyterian Hospital, Capital, and became CEO of Federal Employees Credit Union in 1971 where she remained for 26 years. Florence was a survivor of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murray federal building on April 19, 1995. Florence was instrumental in the reopening of the Credit Union only 48 hours after it was decimated in the blast. Remembering those lost in the blast, she served several years on guidance committees of the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum. She retired two years after the blast at age 62 and has had twenty-six sweet and happy years watching and feeding the birds.  Her children always comment that they are blessed to have had twenty-eight bonus years after her survival. She was a long-standing member of New Hope Christian Church where she served on numerous committees and gave freely of her time to the service of others.
Florence’s life will be celebrated with funeral services at 1:00p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Minco, OK.
