Eric Calvin McCray, age 41, passed from this life to join his Heavenly Father, September 06, 2021, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Eric McCray was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma to parents Marty and Polly McCray, and graduated with honors from Tecumseh High School, and magna cum laude from Oral Roberts University with both B.S. and MBA degrees.
A faithful friend to many, and a lifelong learner, Eric was gifted with many skills and talents. A fantastic musician and singer, a deep-thinker and a great problem-solver, he was determined to master any task he set his mind on. Most recently he taught himself the intricacies of working in the field of HVAC, and established and grew a successful heat and air business, McCray and Sons. He used the fruits of his labor to travel and generously bless others.
Confident, with an easy-going spirit and charming smile, others were drawn to Eric’s magnetic personality. A joyful kid at heart, children flocked to him at gatherings. He was quick to engage in games of chase, water sports, and backyard water balloon battles; his competitive nature brought rolling laughter to friends and family as they watched the fun unfold.
Eric’s love of traveling the world, and learning more about people of different cultures afforded him many adventures, most notably a visit to Cali, Colombia in 2016. After a short time speaking long-distance, Eric booked a flight to meet his future wife, Maria Paula. Maria and her family were surprised to see this tall, handsome man’s sincerity and determination to travel from the USA to meet her. After being thoroughly vetted by Maria’s mother, father, siblings, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, Eric won the hearts of Maria and her entire family. Eric and Maria Paula were married July 30, 2016.
Eric boldly loved and worshiped the Lord and lived a purposeful life of honesty and integrity his entire life. He cared deeply for his family, friends, and community, and he passionately sought justice and took initiative to change the status quo.
Eric McCray is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Paula Arango; loving parents, Marty and Polly McCray of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, grandparents Kenneth and Claudia Fullerton of Tacoma, Washington; aunt Beth and uncle Greg Rohr of Toledo, Washington; aunt Cindy New of Pink, Oklahoma; nephew Jesse McCray of Moore, Oklahoma; and countless extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother, Luke McCray, grandparents Kenneth and Ellen McCray, uncle Phillip McCray, and uncle Ricky McCray, all of Pink, Oklahoma.
