Tribute

Edith Faye Silvers, known to most as “Blondie”, passed away on July 9, 2020, at 86 years old. She was born on December 5, 1933, in Binger, Oklahoma to parents Walter and Bertie Bowers.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Orville, Alec, Joe, and Walter; and the love of her life, James Monroe York.

Edith is survived by many cousins; nieces, and nephews; including a much loved niece and her husband; Ellen and Ray Chidester; along with their four children; and 10 grandchildren.

Edith attended Gracemont High School and worked a multitude of jobs, including picking cotton, until she started her career at Southwestern Bell from which she retired. She was a member of Draper Park Christian Church where she served and loved the Lord. Edith lived her life joyfully and freely and loved her friends and family with her whole heart. Some of her favorite hobbies were going to garage sales, antiquing, thrift shopping, gambling, playing cards, and having a cup of coffee with friends. In her younger years she was known as the life of the party. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at Regency Park Baptist Church in Moore, Oklahoma, on July 21, 2020, at 2:00 PM, graveside to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Viewing will be at Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday July 20, 2020, from 1:00PM to 7:00PM.
