Earlenne Wagner

November 5, 2021

Tribute

Earlenne E. Wagner passed away peacefully early Friday morning, November 5th, from natural causes, at 98 years of age.
She was born January 17, 1923, in Oklahoma City, to Earl C. and Fanny Vice. She grew up with her sister Pauline, and her brother John (J), in the Capitol Hill part of Oklahoma City, graduating from Capitol Hill High School.
Earlenne worked for 36 years in the accounting department for Southwestern Bell, until her retirement in 1983.
Earlenne was an outstanding athlete, and was an excellent golfer, bowler, and pool player. She earned many trophies for each sport.
She married Cecil H. Wagner on June 11, 1945, and was married until his death on April 11, 2000. They spent many winters at their place in Harlingen, TX (after they had both retired), staying in the same location with several other people each year, from both the United States and Canada.
As they had no children, Earlenne was close to her nieces, and spent many good times with them.
She is survived by her 3 nieces: Barbara Carpenter, and her wife Sheryl Nikkel, of Oklahoma City; Paula Cartwright and her long-time partner George Manley, of N. Kingstown, Rhode Island; and Susan Vice and her partner, Glenn Gallagher, of Tampa, Florida.
She is also survived by two great nephews, Andrew Cartwright, and his wife Jane, of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Brian Cartwright and his long-time partner, Jessica Pugliese, of Sarasota, Florida, and one great-great-niece, Lindsey Cartwright, also of Palm Harbor, Florida.
Earlenne was an intelligent, independent, determined, and spirited woman, who had many adventures throughout her life, and always saw the positive side of things. Anyone who met her, remembered her laughter, and storytelling. She was an unforgettable person, who will be greatly missed.
Her family would like to thank the wonderful people at Vitality (formerly Brookdale) Assisted Living, for their care of her these past three and ½ years, and the Mercy Hospital palliative care team, for their care in the last few days of her life.
There will be a viewing on Monday, November 8th, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home, 500 S.W. 104th St., Oklahoma City, OK, 73139, and a graveside service at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 9th, at Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 NW Grand Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73118.
