Doyle Lee Evans, age 89, passed away peacefully Saturday May 1, 2021.
It took nine years for this unforgiving disease, dementia, to finally overpower this wonderfully, enthusiastic, easy going and brave man. Doyle was born on April 26, 1932, in Ada, Oklahoma. At the young age of nineteen, Doyle proudly served in the United States Armed Forces in which he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal; this award recognized all service members who honorably served during the Korean War. Throughout his journey in life, Doyle graduated from college and began his 27-year career at Tinker Air Force Base where he never missed one day of work; he reminded his four children of that on a daily basis. Doyle was famously known for his words of wisdom in which he would say, “Kids always keep your ducks in a row, and if one gets out of line, get it back in there!” He was a comical and jovial man that could make anyone laugh on their worst day. He loved life and always saw a light at the end of the tunnel. His hobbies include: watching NASCAR, taking his four children to the stock car races at the Oklahoma state fair grounds. He took his kids to the lake almost every weekend and taught us to water ski and fish; he loved the water. He was an avid sports fan and his favorite team was OU. On game day, his house was open to anyone that loved football. He owned a 54 Chevy pickup that he painted candy apple red; red was his favorite color. After he refurbished his truck, he entered it in several contests where he won 1st place. He was a man of many hats. Doyle could build a house from the ground up, and taught his children many talents in the construction business. He loved gardening and his favorite vegetable to plant was tomatoes. He was most relaxed watching the squirrels play and listening to the birds sing.
Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Ulva and Myrtle Evans; his two sons, Dennis Lee Evans and Rickey Lee Evans; and two brothers, Houston Evans, and Jerry Evans.
He is survived by his brother, Donny Evans and wife Ann Lucrecia Evans; son, Michael Evans and his wife Genevieve; daughter, Teresa Johnson; son, Tony Evans; and his grandchildren; Brandon Evans; Tony Jay Evans; Tara Evans; Cassidy Johnson and Nicholas Johnson.
