Dorothy Ellen Varnell

Dorothy Varnell was born April, 06, 1939, in San Jose, California, and spent most of her life there. She became an electronics assembler during the time of personal computers were making their way into households. She had worked for Fairchild Semiconductor, a pioneer in the manufacturing of transistors and integrated circuits. She became a Navy military wife, having to move to places like Oak Harbor, Washington, Brunswick, Maine, and back to Mountain View, California. She later worked at Lockheed Martin, primarily working on space products and parts, some of which ended up on the International Space Station and Space Shuttle itself. She took an early retirement, and began to earn her Certified Nursing Assistant and her phlebotomy certification at De Anza College. Years later, she took residence with her son James Varnell in Moore, Oklahoma.

She is survived by her son, her three daughters, Cindy Maczkowicz, Rhonda Bowling, and Shelley Leitner; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
