Doris L. Turner

March 24, 1928 ~ August 10, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old
Oklahoma City - Doris Turner, a longtime resident of Oklahoma City, died Thursday the 10th of August at Integris Hospice House. Born in 1928 in Florida to Tom and Edna Luster, Doris grew up all over Florida and graduated from Leesburg HS. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister Sara Lois. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Marvin Sr; her two loving sons, Marvin Jr and wife Pam, and Tommy and wife DeAnne; five loving grandchildren; and three beautiful great-grandchildren. She will always be remembered as an avid Sooner fan and relentless Coke-a-Cola drinker. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Florida State and later a Master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. She retired from teaching elementary school after 35 years. Doris combined her love for teaching with her love for God by leading bible study classes for many years at Disciples of Christ church for both adult and youth classes. As “Mrs. Turner” she shaped the lives of hundreds of students, and as Grandma Dee she showered her family with love. She would often remind us all to "Be sweet" to one another; maybe that was all the soda talking. No matter the reason, we will honor her wishes by being sweet to ensure that Doris' love lives on to leave this world better than she found it. At the request of the family donations may be sent to Integris Hospice House, 13920 Quailbrook Dr, Oklahoma City, OK 73134.
