Donald “Don” Richard Robbins passed from this life June 8, 2019 at the age of 84. He was born September 30, 1934 in Clarksville, AR.
Donald grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Capitol Hill High School. A man of many talents and abilities, Donald worked at various jobs, and eventually became a manager in quality and production management for Continental, Holsum, and other major bakeries throughout the country. Over the years, he lived in Oklahoma, California, Hawaii, and Arizona. He made Oklahoma City his official home in 1996, where he resided at the time of his passing. Donald married JoAnn Booth and from this union, they were blessed with Donald Joe Robbins and Martha Ann Robbins-Anderson.
Donald married Arvella Carmichael on December 24, 1958 in Lawton, OK. They were blessed with nearly 50 years of marriage. Donald was a committed husband and caregiver to Arvella until her passing on July 7, 2007.
Donald was a member of the Elks Lodge and many golf and country clubs throughout the years. He had a talent and passion for golf, and was an avid sports fan. In addition, he and Arvella were members of boxer clubs and had champion boxers. Donald also enjoyed hunting and cooking. Donald was preceded in passing by his parents, William Alexander Robbins and Lora Emma Bean-Robbins; grandson, Donnie Ray Robbins; step-son, Jerry Ronald Queen; sisters, Flossy VanNoy and Wanda Stephens; and grandson, Darren Tolle.
Survivors include his son, Donald Joe Robbins; daughter, Martha Ann Robbins-Anderson; sister Mary Page, step-daughter, Donna Tolle; daughter-in-law, Judy Queen;7 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of loving extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, The American Cancer Society, or to a charity of your choice. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Brookwood Skilled Nursing and Therapy, to the employees for Donald’s care. A memorial service to honor Donald’s life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, 500 SW 104th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73139. Inurnment will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
