Diem Nguyen

August 4, 1993 – January 23, 2023
 
Diem Ngan Tran Nguyen passed away January 23, 2023, at the hospital surrounded by her family after a tough battle with cancer. She was a wonderful person that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. She was an amazing daughter, sister, friend, and a travel connoisseur like no other.
 
Ngan’s journey started as the second oldest child to Huan Nguyen and Trinh Tran, born in Tay Ninh, Vietnam. Her first taste of the travel bug started in 2001 when her family moved to Oklahoma where she would spend her life, make many lifelong friends, and leave an impression on all she meets.

As a natural born leader, Ngan served as Senior Class President at Southmoore High School, where she also played varsity soccer and basketball. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a double major in Criminology and International and Area Studies. She was an avid shoe collector, Kobe Bryant fan, and technology guru.

Ngan was renowned for uncovering unique restaurants. She never had any trouble finding a way to explore the world and its cuisine. Everyone knew they would have a culinary experience when traveling with Ngan. Her most memorable trips include China, Italy, France, England, Canada, and Mexico.

Stomach cancer put a wrench in Ngan’s plans in March 2021. She fought tenaciously and went into remission in January 2022. Unfortunately, the cancer returned in November 2022 and quickly metastasized. Despite her ailment, her wittiness and positivity never faltered.

Loved ones that will miss Ngan until they meet again are her father Huan Nguyen; her mother Trinh Tran; her sisters Chau, Quynh, Anna; brother Tony; brother-in-law Chau; niece and goddaughter Madelyn; as well as beloved grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and dear friends.
