Friday, October 11, 2019 brought to a close the 95 years of full and honorable life for Delbert A. Gullett. A former Drill Sergeant with the United States Army, he served this country from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. Delbert was also recognized for his service during WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient.
Delbert was born in Choctaw, OK on June 8, 1924, to loving parents, Felbert and Ethel Gullett. Delbert married Peggy in 1966 and they enjoyed over 50 years of wedded bliss until her passing in 2018. He was a hard-working family man and dedicated Christian who loved God and his family greatly. Delbert enjoyed working with his hands, whether it be toiling on the farm or working on cars in the shop. A recreational hunter who enjoyed the great outdoors, Delbert could always be found reveling in God’s creation of the world around him.
Delbert is preceded in death by his parents, wife Peggy Gullett, daughter Deborah Gullett, brother Alden Gullett, sister Maveen Campbell, and grandson Derrick.
Those keeping him in their memories include his sons Leroy Bowden, Greg Gullett, and daughter Regina Erikson and husband Rich, brother Ray Gullet, brother Vernon Gullet and wife Cindy, sister-in-law Lula Gullett, and sister-in-law Willa Mae Page. He also leaves behind 6 grandkids, 14 great grandkids, 4 great-great grandkids, and many nieces and nephews whom he loved immensely.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Oklahoma City.
