Debra "Debbie" A. Barber

May 28, 1952 ~ April 7, 2018 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Tribute

April 7, 2018 brought to a close 65 full years of life for Debra “Debbie” Ann Barber. Debbie was born May 28, 1952 in Oklahoma City to LoRita and Warren Rector. Following her high school graduation Debbie spent a couple of years at Oklahoma State University before moving back to the City to settle down and begin her journey into adulthood. She married George Ellis Barber August 25, 1978 and to that union they were blessed with two daughters.
Always the devoted soccer and cheer mom, Debbie loved spending time with family in all capacities. From reunions to birthdays and holidays, Debbie was in her element and made each gathering very special, though family homemade taco night was her favorite. Her trademark was Red Hot Jello for the holidays and no one made deviled eggs better than she did.
Debbie was a DIYer before it was cool, always working on home décor and renovation projects. She collected antiques and old crockery along with Warren Kimball artwork. Debbie owned every single piece of Kitchen Aid bakeware and appliance in Empire Red.
Debbie’s family described her as the most thoughtful gift giver of all time.  She would spend all year making sure she picked out amazing gifts for everyone. Debbie wrapped them expertly and with great detail and accessories despite her arthritic hands. Giving gifts was her most favorite but she loved receiving them too, she always opened her presents slowly and deliberately, trying to save EVERY scrap of tissue or wrapping paper, bag, and bow. EVERYONE got a birthday card in the mail. Debbie made sure her address book was up to date so she could brighten someone's birthday with a greeting card.

A true delight in Debbie’s life were her grandbabies Wyatt and Bejamin that knew her as Granny. She was the best Granny, always made a batch of cookies when we were coming over or pancakes and sausage for Wyatt.  Debbie took care of Wyatt while his parents were at work from the time he was six weeks old to six years old.  She was so proud of her grandsons.

Debbie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Dorothy & Everette Sutton; paternal grandparents Bertha & Roy Rector; and her father Warren M. Rector of Oklahoma City, OK.

Those holding her memories and birthday cards close are her mother, LoRita A. Rector of Oklahoma City; husband, George Ellis Barber of Edmond; daughters, Amy E. Barber of Edmond, Lindsay L. Malone and husband, Jason of Oklahoma City; grandsons, Wyatt & Benjamin Malone of Oklahoma City; sisters, Christy A. Mazza and her husband Mark and their sons, Cole and Tate Mazza; Tammy A.
