Tribute

Deborah Carol (Allen) Baker, 71, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2023 after a lengthy battle with ALS. “Debbie” was born on September 26,1951 in Oklahoma City, the daughter of the late Samuel “Rusty” and Golda (Campbell) Allen. Debbie was preceded in death by her loving sister, Delores Ann Allen. She graduated from Northwest Classen Highschool in1969, followed by the University of Oklahoma, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Language. Debbie was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, forging lifelong friendships and shared sisterhood. Receiving a full scholarship to Southern Methodist University, she earned a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology.

As a dedicated Speech Pathologist for 27 years, Debbie had a passion for children and families in surrounding rural areas. She was dedicated to helping her students achieve their goals in speech development and strengthen their self-esteem.

Debbie was loving and caring, making fast friends everywhere she went. She was a lifelong student of the bible, deeply anchored in her faith in God and readily shared this love with others. Above all, she was the love of her devoted husband of 40 years and her “best” caregiver, Jim Baker. After retirement, Debbie and Jim enjoyed their time relaxing in their backyard oasis, traveling, RVing to National and local Parks and serving the neighborhood youth on Wednesdays at NW Baptist Church with a hot meal, fellowship and fun.

In the past three years, Debbie remained a joyful source of love, faith, strength and encouragement to her family. This legacy will live on through her husband Jim Baker, brother Samuel Allen, (Steffani), Sister-in-law Margaret Campbell, nephew Jason Allen, niece Cary Joy Hans, and six great nieces and nephews, Jackson Allen, Avery Allen, Lucy Allen, Carson Hans, Campbell Joy Hans and Harrison Hans, step-son Todd Baker (Jennifer)and son Coit Baker, step-daughter Jeannie Camp (Clay) and sons Wyatt Camp and Ayden Camp and God Daughter, My Ta.
The family wishes to extend their love and gratitude to the many dear friends who provided their support, prayers and friendship during this difficult time.

Contributions in memory of Debbie may be made to Northwest Baptist Church, 3030 NW 23rd St., OKC, Okla. 73107.
