Danny Rushing

Danny Wallace Rushing went peacefully to be with the Lord on June 30, 2021, at the age of 70.
He was born on October 10, 1950, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to J.W. and Margaret Rushing. In 1970, Danny graduated from U.S. Grant High school in Oklahoma City. He attended Central State University before marrying Linda Murray in 1972. Danny and Linda had three children, Christina, James, and Timothy Rushing. Danny married the love of his life, Mary "Sandi" Burns in 1988. Danny welcomed her two children, Renae and Clay as his own. Danny and Sandi were happily married for over 33 years until his passing. Danny owned his own carpentry company and did construction as a subcontractor for J.W. Rushing Homes for many years. When he closed that company, he went to work for the Oklahoma City Housing Authority where he retired after 25 years.

Danny enjoyed fishing and hunting, black powder being his favorite season. He successfully tagged an eight-point buck and a button buck. An avid bowler, he spent as much time as he could at the lanes. Bowling a 269 as his best game. He had been working on restoring his 1971 Mustang coupe, his third love. Babies being his second love. Danny loved to hold babies and they loved him. His greatest pride was his extended family and all the children. Danny and Sandi welcomed all friends and friends of friends to their weekly pool parties and cookouts. This resulted in many kids running around their "Grandpa Danny" who might or might not be his actual grandchildren. Danny loved the OU Sooners shouting out the Boomer Sooner fight song word for word while gently singing the alma mater in sync with his fellow Sooners. Like his father J.W. and mother Margaret, Danny liked the casino and once won $10,000.00 on a straight flush in a game of Caribbean Stud. He was a gentle and kind soul who was loved by all who knew him. His loss is immeasurable.

Danny is survived by his wife, Sandi; brother, Jerry Rushing and wife Mary; sister, Denise Gomez and husband Tony; children, Renae Simpson and husband Alan, Christina Johnson and husband Tory, James Rushing, Clay Davidson and wife Ericah, and Tim Rushing; grandchildren, Alexandria Johnson, Tory Johnson Jr. and fiancé Chelsea Hayes, Dakota Johnson and wife Brittani, Dylan Johnson and fiancé Krystal Dixon, Daniel Johnson, Timothy Rushing Jr., Temperance Davidson, Trinity Davidson, Caleb Waldren, and Nathan Waldren; and seven and a half great grandchildren.
