August 13, 1946 ~ September 19, 2018 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Tribute

Connie Sherrill Jones, age 72, passed away on September 19, 2018. Connie was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on August 13, 1946 to Anita Jean Rankin and Raymond W. Jones. She was raised in Illinois with her mom, her stepdad and her brother, calling Taylorville the hometown of her heart. They later moved to East Lynn, Illinois where she graduated from High School in 1964.
In 1970, she and her daughter moved to Oklahoma, where she took a job in accounting for General Electric Credit Corporation. In 1986 she went to work for American Mortgage & Investment Company, and a later change in jobs took her to the Criminal History reporting unit of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. She retired from the OSBI in September 2008.

Connie was a 30 year member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, a club that re-creates the middle ages. She was well recognized in that organization for her outstanding service, both to her local chapters and her “Kingdom.” She also found a second family in the members of the Household known as Wolfstar.
The tornado of 2013 destroyed her home and possessions, but spared her life and the life of her litter of 4 rescued kittens. She met that challenge with the optimism and strength for which she was well known.
Connie enjoyed many things: anything Gone with the Wind, anything Harry Potter, the music from the 1950s – especially Elvis Presley. She was an avid online gamer, particularly enjoying World of Warcraft. She always told people that her daughter, Lori, was her greatest joy and the light of her life. She also adored her furkids, Baxter, Biscuit, Dorian and Remus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond W. Jones, Anita Jean Rankin and William C. Rankin.

Connie is survived by her brother, William A. Rankin and wife Diane of Hoopeston, IL and by her daughter, Anita Lorraine “Lori” Campbell and son-in-law Barclay W. Campbell, of Oklahoma City, OK.
Visitation will be held 1-8pm Sunday. A celebration of Connie’s life will be held 2pm Monday, September 24 in the Chapel at Resthaven. To share condolences, please visit resthavenokc.com
