Tribute

In Loving Memory of
“Colleen Carla Cooper”
On December 2, 2021, Colleen (Moore) Cooper was released into the eternal arms of the Heavenly Father surrounded by her devoted husband, John, and two children, Caressa and Nick.
Colleen was born to Wayne and Nancy Moore on December 19, 1957, at St. John McNamara Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota. Colleen was named by Sister Jemma, one of the nuns who worked in the labor and delivery ward at the hospital. She was the second of five girls born to Wayne and Nancy, often referred to as the “Moore Girls”. Colleen attended school in Rapid City and graduated with honors from Rapid City Central High School in 1976.
In 1974, Colleen met the love of her life, John Cooper, an Airman stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota. Upon graduation, she pinned on a pair of wings and flew off to Alconbury Air Force Base in Peterborough, England to marry John. They became Mr. and Mrs. Cooper on July 19, 1976, and lived in Wyoming, Georgia, South Dakota, Guam, Kentucky, and Oklahoma. Colleen and John were married 45 years.
Colleen began working at the age of 18 at the Army & Air Force Exchange Service and worked throughout her life as a bookkeeper, financial manager, and medical coding and billing representative. She took great pride in her work and received many accolades for her excellent performance.
Colleen’s first child, Caressa Dawn (husband Brian), was born October 12, 1981, followed by Nickolas Wayne (wife Christina), on July 15, 1983. Being a mother meant the world to Colleen and she was always involved in their lives. Colleen’s true adoration came with the birth of her six grandchildren – Abby, Sophie, Mayci, Carlee, Christoper and Ronan. Nothing made her happier than spoiling or indulging her grandchildren, especially when their parents said “no” and she said “yes” - because she was in the YES business.
Her husband, John, will miss Colleen dearly and will always cherish the wonderful memories they made together. Colleen’s children, grandchildren and sisters will never forget her love, smile, kindness, and the great times we shared.
