Bonnie Joe McKinzie
Born to Floyd Reid Jenkins and Joe Bob Corley Shaw, June 29, 1930, in Oklahoma City.
She was a 1948 graduate of Capitol Hill High School.
Married Bob McKinzie, June 21, 1950, making their home in Oklahoma City; married 65 years; a devoted Christian wife and mother, raising 5 children.
She was a member of Draper Park Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for 30 years and sang in the choir. She was also a member of a gospel trio, The Christ Channels, recording an album and performing in the area. After raising her children, she worked in the mortgage industry for 25 years.
She loved music, gardening, and of course football, her OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys.
She is survived by her 5 children, Viki Baisden; Lou Ann Brown and husband Melvin; Leslie Meek and husband Kerwin; Robin Avery and husband Mike; Bob McKinzie and wife Carla. 13 grandchildren, Chris and Matt Baisden; Rick and Ryan Andrews; Kerr, Kelle and Keith Meek; Justin, Jeremy and Jeff Avery; Logan, Campbell and Riley McKinzie, along with 23 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be Friday, May 14, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating (Grandson) Pastor Justin Avery. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be (Grandsons) Chris Baisden, Rick Andrews, Kerr Meek, Jeremy Avery, Matt Baisden, and Jeff Avery. Honorary Pallbearers: (Grandsons) Ryan Andrews, Keith Meek, Logan McKinzie, Campbell McKinzie, and Riley McKinzie.
