Billy F. Johnston passed from this life September 13, 2019 at the age of 80. He was born February 1, 1939 to Roy and Blanche Johnston (Hill).
Billy grew up in Oklahoma City. Upon graduating high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1960. Billy married the love of his life, Donna Faye Johnston (Robertson) on January 26, 1963. In August of 1963 he pursued a career as a Senior Production Specialist at Northwest Central Pipeline Corporation. He worked there for 21 years before pursuing other career options in 1984, ultimately retiring from OSU Technical Institute, where he worked for 16 years.
Billy’s hobbies included playing the piano, card games and puzzles. He had a passion for art and history. Above all, Billy loved his family. They were his ultimate pride and joy. He enjoyed traveling to many places with his family, but particular favorites were Branson, Eureka Springs, the Grand Canyon, and the Petrified Forest. In addition, Billy absolutely loved gospel music and watching the Antique Road Show.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, Roy F. Johnston and Blanche Mae Johnston; and sister, Francis Modean Carroll.
Survivors include his loving wife, Donna Johnston; son, Rick Johnston and wife Jamie; daughters, Renae Aynes and husband Mike and Tami Sawatzky and husband Earl; brother, Bobby Johnston; sister, Vera Jean Bowen and husband Shorty; grandchildren, Michael and wife Stephanie, Jonathan and wife Sierra, Brendon and wife Pearl, Charissa and husband Gary, Timothy, Jeremy and wife Vanessa, Amanda, Brandon, Brittany, Hannah and husband Roy, and Ben and wife Katrina; great-grandchildren, RaiLynn, Kylie, Corbin, Jayden, Saylor, Levi, Tristan, James, Breanna, Brayden, Kayden, Tiger, Asher, and two great-granddaughters arriving soon, Aspen and Feya. Billy is also survived by a host of loving extended family and friends.
Visitation for Billy is 3:00pm to 8:00pm, Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Resthaven Funeral Home, 500 SW 104th St. Oklahoma City, OK 73139. Services are 11:00am, Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Shekinah Fellowship Church, 412 SW 104th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73139. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
