William Keith Cox (Bill) went home to be with The Lord on September 23rd, 2020. Bill was born on August 11th, 1941, in Oklahoma City, to Marvin and Devota Cox. He graduated from Southeast Highschool, in 1958, and began working at his dad’s grocery store. Bill also worked at Otasco, and later bought his own APCO service station. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan Marie Whitlock, on February 19th, 1960. Bill worked for, and later bought his dad’s flour company, Bakewell Flour. In 1976, he founded Christian Motor Company, which he continued operating for over 29 years.
When he was 30, through a series of hardships and crises, Bill began a deeper commitment to The Lord. Bill and Joan joined Sherwood Baptist Church, where Bill would become the Sunday School Superintendent, and a deacon. In the mid 1990s, Bill started the 4th Saturday Gospel Singing, which he continued for 7 years, before handing it over to Jim Wagner. At the same time, Bill and Joan began traveling throughout the country as the “Singers Of Good News”, and Bill was ordained as a minister.
Bill “retired” in 2007, but continued to work, until he was no longer able to. (and even a little longer) He enjoyed hunting, singing, NASCAR, flying, and working, but his greatest joy was his family, and sharing the Gospel with people.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Devota, his mother and father in-law Beulah and Willie Whitlock, and his son in-law Jo-El Kimball. He is survived by his wife Joan, of Moore, 2 daughters, Brenda Moore and husband Steve, of Yukon, and Anita Kimball, of Moore, brothers Kenny, of Oklahoma City, and Charlie, of Fort Worth, Texas, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
Bill’s going home celebration will be Sunday, September 27th, at Grace Community Baptist Church, in Oklahoma City, at 2:00 p.m. Viewing and visitation will be on Saturday, September 26th, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Oklahoma City, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. The graveside service will be at Resthaven Cemetery in OKC, immediately following the service.
