Tribute

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Betty Jo Muse, on Friday, January 24th, 2020. Betty was born on March 22, 1930 to Leman and Bonnie Hewitt in Stratford, Oklahoma. She was the devoted wife of the late Jack Walter Muse and the selfless mother of Gene L. Muse, Janis K. Prier, and the late Jack C. Muse.
Betty graduated from Vanoss High School where she played basketball and went on to college to pursue her dream of nursing at OU. Betty and Jack Walter, her soulmate, were married July 5th, 1952 and were devoted to one another for over 45 years until his passing in 1997.
Her passion was serving her fellow man, and as a nurse for many years she cared for many neighbors, friends, family as well as their friends. Betty was a Charter Member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church where she cherished her church family and raised her children. Betty loved all people and truly never met a stranger. She had a way of saying just what you needed to hear exactly when you needed to hear it. Betty loved a good meal almost as much as a good deal. There’s no one that could bargain shop like her! Many retail stores across the metro knew her on a first name basis.
Betty placed a huge emphasis on family. Her unfailing commitment to her family was by far her greatest achievement. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and would want us to remember to be kind, be tolerable, and love unconditionally. These traits she exemplified.
She is survived by her son, Gene L. Muse, MD, and Patia Pearson, his longtime caregiver; daughter, Janis Prier, and husband Jeff. Grandchildren: Vanessa Kemp and husband Steven; Brandon Muse and fiancé Alondra; Deseree Oringderff and husband Shane; Bonnie Herman and husband Phillip; and Kirby Prier. Great Grandchildren: Dustin Sutton, Kadin Muse, Hunter Kemp, Damien Herman, Kylie Herman, Preslee Oringderff, Kruz Corvin, Lennon Muse, and Bryndolynn Maldonado.
Betty is reunited with the love of her life, Jack Walter Muse and oldest son, Jack Coyle Muse.
