COLVIN, Bettie Jo, (Shahan), age 88, of Oklahoma City passed away Monday, February 19, 2018. She was born September 4, 1929, in Boswell, OK. Bettie first met her future husband while in the sixth grade, when he was selected as a student to conduct the Oklahoma City Orchestra at a school presentation. Bettie left school in the 8th grade to help support her family and found her first job at Katz Drug Store in Oklahoma City. Later, she worked for Rothschild’s Department Store where she worked in accounting. She married Robert (Bob) Lee Colvin on August 20, 1950, in El Reno, OK. Upon her marriage to Bob, Bettie lived in Del City, OK and later moved with her husband, son and daughter to Tucson, AZ, Riverside and San Jose, CA and later, Houston, TX, when Bob worked for the Johnson Space Center. Having relocated to Oklahoma City after the death of her husband, Bettie lived a quiet and fulfilled life in Oklahoma City. She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping at antique stores, doll and figurine collecting, and she enjoyed cross-stitch, crocheting and quilting. One of Bettie’s favorite hobbies was crocheting newborn hats for babies born at Southwest Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her parents George Newton and Nettie Mae (Stringer) Shahan, her husband Bob Colvin, her son, Randy Colvin, and five brothers and six sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Colvin) Luckens and her husband, Cliff Luckens, two grandsons, Christopher Luckens and Kyle Luckens, and her sister, Ann Pierce, all of Oklahoma City, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Little Chapel of the Roses in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful help and care given by Frontier Hospice and Tuttle Care Center.
