Belle Hervey

March 1, 1930 ~ May 1, 2019 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Tribute

Nona Belle Moore Hervey was born March 1, 1930 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Oakley and Florence Moore. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School, and later completed her Bachelor’s degree in education. She met Carl Wayne Hervey during high school in the Civil Air Patrol. They were married on June 3, 1950. She worked from home until her children were in school, then trained to be a tax preparer. She finally found her passion as a Human Relations instructor for Tinker AFB and, later, for the Navy in Virginia and California. Belle was an awesome seamstress, sewing for her children and grandchildren. She loved entertaining her grandchildren and taking them hiking to explore nature. Her creativity was evident in the dolls, ceramics, and stained-glass pieces she made. Growing and arranging flowers was a favorite past time of hers at which she excelled. Her camera was a constant companion as all her children and grandchildren can attest. Pictures were taken at every happening she attended, Carl dutifully carrying the light bars! She was an active member of the computer club and loved to research genealogy. She and Carl enjoyed traveling and went many exciting places including mission trips with their church, Our Lord’s Community Church. She and Carl were active and faithful members of their church and especially enjoyed their Sunshine group. She served many years as an office volunteer for her church. She is preceded in death by son, David Wayne Hervey, parents: Oakley & Florence Moore (Dewey); brothers: Glenn Moore, Calvin Moore, Gene Moore, and sisters: Viola Moore and Lois Daley. She is survived by her husband, Carl Hervey; brother Roy Moore and wife, Helen, of Palm Desert, CA; children: Shirley SanFilippo and husband, Chris; Philip Hervey and wife Terry; Barbara Freeman and husband, Kerry; Chris Hervey; Carl Hervey II and wife, Keri; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Belle will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, but her impact on this world will continue through her descendants.
