Barbara R Long

Barbara Ruth Long, 81, died March 2, 2018, in Edmond, Oklahoma after a sudden illness. Born June 27, 1936 in Chandler, Oklahoma to Woodrow and Ruth Hyde, Barbara graduated from Wichita East High School in 1954. She lived in Medicine Lodge and Ulysses, Kansas before moving to Moore, Oklahoma in 1975. Retired from Moore Public Schools, Barbara worked as a media assistant at Southgate-Rippetoe Elementary and as an administrative secretary at Sooner Elementary. Barbara enjoyed playing bridge, shopping, travel, and attending sports events at the University of Oklahoma. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, brother Woodrow Hyde, Jr. (Sonny), husbands Robert Elliott and Joseph Long, and granddaughter Abby Knoll. Survivors include her brother Michael Hyde and wife Shirley, sister Ruthie Lynch and husband Jeff, son David L. Knoll and wife Laura, daughter Julie Heckman, grandchildren Marina Knoll, Daniel Heckman and Claudia Heckman, and many nephews, nieces and friends. Viewing hours are from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday and Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home. Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at First Christian Church of Moore with interment following at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
