Ann Jean Timmons, Age 95
Joined her Lord and Savior on January 27, 2021. Born in Kiefer, Oklahoma, on August 13, 1925 to James W. and Dezzie Puckett. Preceded in death by her parents; husband Gilbert L. Hensley Sr. and husband James H. Timmons; brothers, C.W. “Bill” Puckett and James W. Puckett, Jr.
She was a charter member and Sunday School teacher at Central Hillcrest Baptist Church and in later years a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church.
She was a member of the Oklahoma Eastern Star for over 67 years. She was a dedicated alumna of Foster High School who chaired the Alumni Association Annual Reunion dinner twice in the 1990’s.
Ann graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1943 and attended Blackwood Business College. In the 1960’s she wrote a local news column, Prairie Queen Notes, for the Capitol Hill Beacon. She proudly served the Oklahoma County Election Board as a precinct inspector for many years.
She was an avid homemaker, cook and gardener, who in one year earned 25 ribbons at the Oklahoma State Fair. Her delicious recipes will be enjoyed and handed down for generations to come. In addition, she was a talented and inventive seamstress and costume designer. Ann will be remembered most as a loving Grandma and Great Grandma Ann.
She is survived by daughter Cathy Phoenix of Oakland, California; three sons, Gilbert L. Hensley Jr. and wife Shannon of Newcastle, OK; Greg Hensley of San Antonio, TX; and Gary Hensley and wife Marlene of Windham, NH. Seven grandchildren: Natalie Johnson, Gilbert (Trey) Hensley III, Joseph Hensley, Brody Hensley, Brett Hensley, Susanne Hickman and Lauren Lindberg, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery, Edmond, OK.
