William Halford

October 3, 1932 ~ September 15, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old
William H. Halford, 84, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 15, 2017.  He passed peacefully in his home under hospice care with family by his side.  William was known as Bill to most and his favorite people called him Pape.  He was born on October 3, 1932 to Oscar and Lonnie Halford.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Elmo, Odell, Ardell, and sister Faye.  He has a surviving sister, Jeanette and a brother Jack.  He grew up all over, but mostly in Eastview, a town just outside of Mangum, Oklahoma.  He left high school in the 11th grade to join the Air Force.  He met his loving wife, Georgia, and they married in 1954.  After leaving the Air Force he finished his schooling and went on to get his license in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.  They had three children, Dennis H. Halford, who preceded him in death and his two surviving daughters, Patty Self, husband Freddie and Terri Hunter, and husband David.  He worked at L&S Bearing as a Heat Treat Supervisor for many years before retiring.  He was an avid OU sports fan as well as a Dallas Cowboys fan.  He loved playing his guitars in his free time as well as working in his garden and yard.  Of all the things we know he loved, we can say that his biggest joy was spoiling and supporting his seven grandchildren:  John Halford and wife Kylee of Oklahoma City, Brandy Gutierrez and husband Mario of Oklahoma City, Avery Carpenter and husband Dustin of Norman, Haley Garrett and husband Travis of Moore, Candace Litton and husband Daniel of Oklahoma City, Tonia Hart of Florida and Billy Halford of Florida; as well as 12 great grandchildren:  Teran, Brittan, Braxton, Rylee, Mario Jr., Galveston, Zachariah, Samantha, Tristan, Teagan, Jared and Julia.  Services to celebrate William’s life will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at The Chapel at Resthaven with interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
