After 80 years of a life well lived, Tressie Bernice Money left her earthly home on May 23, 2017. She was born August 25, 1936 in Garvin, OK to Robert and Jessie (West) McFarland.
During her life, Tressie worked as a cook, a waitress, and was also employed as a cashier at Newcastle Casino, where she was regularly complimented on her beautiful white hair. She enjoyed going to garage sales and watching OKC Thunder basketball. Tressie was known for her feisty and strong personality, keeping her home meticulously tidy, and for making the absolute best carrot cake. Full of generosity, at a time in her life, Tressie’s compassion led her to bring her 6 nieces and nephews into her home during a time of need. Also spiritual, her prayers for comfort and relief were answered during her sickness.
Tressie was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Ben Money; and sisters, Imogene McFarland and Shirley Hayworth.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: daughters, Barbara Ray and husband Lynn, Debbie Giles, and Trisha Harris and husband Mark; brothers, Earl, Rob, and Winson McFarland; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Tressie’s incredible cousins, Oleta and Almeta for their loving care and companionship.
A celebration of Tressie's life will be held 10am Saturday, May 27 at Wilmont Place Baptist Church.
