Tribute for Samuel Decker

Welcome to the memorial page for

Samuel Decker

July 18, 1952 ~ October 12, 2017 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Samuel Lewis Decker returned to his Heavenly Father following a brief, yet courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Comanche, OK, to Roy and Hazel Decker who preceded him in death. Sam died at home in Oklahoma City with his wife of thirty years, Myra Wilcoxson Decker, at his side. Also preceding him in death were his brother Lee Roy Decker and his brother-in-law Don Tutt. In addition to his wife, he is survived by many family and friends whom he loved and cherished.

Sam was smart, hard-working and funny but most of all he was talented and creative beyond measure. His curiosity was endless. From creative writing to construction, from astronomy to art, he could do it or studied how. In recent years his passion became music. He played the violin which he carved and constructed himself. A great joy in his life was rehearsing and performing with treasured friends in the Carousel Quartet, Better Together Strings, and Sinfonia.

For their care and compassion, appreciation is extended to Dr. Showalter, Dr. Holzer, and especially to Theresa, Melissa, and all the staff with Integris Hospice; truly angels on earth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or Integris Hospice. Viewing will be held Monday, 12-8 pm, at Resthaven Funeral Home. A celebration of Sam’s life will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, at Southern Hills Baptist Church.
