Melvin (Buddy) Lummus, 67, was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Gladys and Melvin Lummus. He passed away at home on December 10, 2017, his family by his side.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents Gladys and Melvin and his nephew Josh Norem. He is survived by: His wife Terrie and his loving children Mindy, Vickie and her husband Ryan, Jamie and Buddy and his wife Rachel; his sisters Glenda and Alethea; Sister-in-law Kelly and her husband Tim; nieces and nephews, who he loved and cared for just like his own children: Mike, Nick, Sarah and Zeus. He also adored his grandchildren. He loved and was so proud of Jered, Grace, Cody, Haley, Olivia, Jadeyn, and Kylie.

Buddy retired as Major in the Oklahoma City Fire Department where he worked for 30 years. He loved firefighting and his many lifelong firefighter friends. He was active in the Oklahoma City hockey community and worked at the OKC Firefighters Museum for several years. He will be remembered for his great compassion, sense of humor, ability to fix anything and his love and devotion to his family.

Services to celebrate Buddy’s life will be 10 AM Thursday, December 14, 2017 in the Chapel at Resthaven.
