Joanne H. Bowen

July 15, 1935 ~ August 2, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old
Joanne Bowen, 82, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2017.
The daughter of Marshall and Hilda Pearl (Spencer) Hartline, was born July 15, 1935 in Poplar Bluff, MO. She graduated from Russellville High School in Russellville, AR in 1952. She married, James C. Bowen and settled in Oklahoma City, OK. She was a devoted Christian and faithful member of South Pointe Church formerly, Grace Assembly of God Church for over 40 years. In her later years, she had the joy of becoming a member of her son, Rev. Kevin Bowen’s congregation at New Heights Baptist Church.
Joanne was loved and honored for her steady faith in God and unwavering care for others.
“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Proverbs 31:28-29
One of her greatest accomplishments was receiving her LPN from the Practical School of Nursing in 1973 at the age of 38. Joanne nurtured and encouraged countless expectant mothers and newborns in her practice. She took great delight in her profession and helped many young women and mothers throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, sewing, and always looked forward to seeing her sisters and brother. She loved spending time with friends and family and was especially proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, James; son, Bobby; and sisters, Coleen Hartline and Carol Rosalie Tucker-Duvall.
She leaves behind to treasure her memory, three sons, James Bowen Jr., Steve Bowen and his wife Deborah, Kevin Bowen and wife Vicki; three grandsons, Joshua, Zachary and his wife Erin, Jordan and his wife Sarah; three granddaughters, Sarah, Faith and Hannah; three great-grandchildren, Ciara, Zoe and Von; two sisters, Jane Bowden and husband Eddy, Janis Hartline Hylton and one brother, Marshall “Junior” Hartline and wife Linda; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Phyllis Hubbard; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Visitation will be held Friday 12pm-8pm, with family present to receive friends at 6pm.
Funeral ceremony will be held 2:30pm Saturday, at New Heights Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Sunnylane Cemetery.
