In Loving Memory of Larry Joe Twellman
Larry Joe Twellman, born on August 2, 1955, in Fort Sill, OK, departed from this world on April 14, 2024, in Tulsa, OK. He was the cherished son of Herman Joe and Mary Jo Twellman.
Larry's journey began at Eisenhower High School in Lawton, OK, where he graduated in 1975, embarking on a life filled with dedication, service, and love. His professional career in emergency medical services spanned five decades, leaving an indelible mark on the communities he served.
From his early years at Kirks Emergency Service in Lawton to his roles at Sherman Demuth Ambulance, Amcare Ambulance, EMSA, and Leflore County EMS in Poteau, OK, Larry exemplified compassion and skill in his work. His dedication to helping others extended beyond state lines, as he served with DC International in Lafayette, LA, and later with AMR Gulf Port in Mississippi.
In his final years of service, Larry worked with Med-Ride Ambulance and Midwest City EMS, which eventually became Saint Anthony Hospital SSM. He retired in November of 2021, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, compassion, and unwavering commitment to those in need.
Outside of work, Larry found solace and joy in the outdoors, particularly through camping, hunting, fishing and was an avid photographer. He also had a passion for woodworking, creating beautiful pieces that reflected his love for craftsmanship and nature.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Herman Edward (Sonny). He is survived by his devoted spouse, Susie Twellman, his sister, Mary Berg of Lawton, OK, his daughters, Dianne Prosser (Kevin Prosser) of Yukon, OK, and Samantha Hughes of Poteau, OK, along with his granddaughter, Sloane Prosser, and grandson, Mason Hughes. He is also remembered by his stepchildren, Denise Simpson, Stephanie Nichols, Steven Twellman, his sister-in-law, Diana Twellman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a charity of your choice, honoring Larry's spirit of generosity and compassion.
Larry Joe Twellman's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him, his legacy of love and service serving as a beacon of light in the lives of many. Rest in peace, Larry, you will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
